Built by an educator,
for educators

The story behind Your Staff Room — and why it exists.

Primary Teacher & Founder, Your Staff Room

I built Your Staff Room because I love teaching — and I am tired of the administration of it getting in the way of doing it well.

Like most teachers, I came into this profession because of the students. I wanted classrooms where every child felt safe, seen, and capable of more than they thought. I wanted to know my learners deeply, plan lessons that genuinely met them where they were, and respond to behaviour from a place of understanding rather than compliance.

What I did not anticipate was how much of my time would be spent on everything other than that. Writing reports late into the night. Planning units from scratch every term. Building behaviour support plans that should have come from understanding, but were too often rushed under deadline. Reading through pages of curriculum documents to make sure I was hitting the right outcomes. The teaching itself — the part I loved — was being squeezed by the relentless administration around it.

So I started building.

Your Staff Room is what I always wished existed: a connected experience where the research, the data, and the curriculum all live together. Where, when I sit down to plan a lesson, it is already grounded in the latest learning sciences. Where the outcomes I am teaching to are right there from my actual syllabus — not buried in a PDF I have to re-find every time. Where what I already know about my students shapes what I create. Where a behaviour support plan starts from trauma-informed practice and current evidence — not whatever fragments I could remember from the last PD I attended.

Every tool on this site exists because I needed it in my own classroom. They are designed around the Australian Curriculum, grounded in evidence-based practice, and built so that what comes out is genuinely supported by research — not a generic template, but something that reflects the way thoughtful teachers actually work.

This is not another platform asking teachers to learn one more thing. It is built by an educator, for educators, to give us back the time and energy that the system keeps taking. The work of teaching is hard enough. The work around the teaching should not be the part that breaks us.

If you have feedback, ideas, or just want to say hello — I genuinely read every message. You can reach me through the feedback page or on Instagram.

What guides every tool we build

Evidence over opinion

Every tool is grounded in current research — trauma-informed practice, neurodiversity-affirming frameworks, relational pedagogy, and the science of learning.

Built for Australian classrooms

Not a US tool with a flag change. Every curriculum reference, every syllabus mapping, every assessment type is designed for Australian educators from the ground up.

Time back, not more work

The goal is not to give teachers another platform to learn. It is to take real tasks off your plate — properly, so you do not have to redo them.

Teacher wellbeing matters

We built a compassion fatigue check-in tool because we believe the system asks too much of educators and does too little to look after them.
